Windows Server 2016 Updated February 2018 x64 Official ISO Download (Refreshed Media 11636703) with Verified SHA-256
If you’re looking for a clean, complete, unmodified Windows Server 2016 ISO on a relatively fresh patch baseline, you’ve come to the right place.
Windows Server 2016 GA’d in October 2016 as a Long-Term Servicing Channel release (Build 14393, sharing the Windows 10 1607 kernel), bringing containers (Docker / Windows containers), Nano Server, Storage Spaces Direct, Storage Replica, nested virtualization and Credential Guard into the Windows Server platform for the first time. In early 2018 Microsoft reissued the setup media as an “Updated” release with over a year of cumulative updates integrated. This post provides the genuine Windows Server 2016 Updated February 2018 Simplified Chinese refreshed disc (part number 11636703), complete with a PowerShell-verified SHA-256 hash proving every byte matches Microsoft’s official release.
Why choose the Updated media? The 2016 RTM disc (9718765) requires more than a year of cumulative updates after setup, including tricky servicing-stack jumps — slow and error-prone. The February 2018 refresh integrates all security updates, servicing-stack fixes and reliability patches through that date directly into the installer, so setup finishes at the early-2018 baseline with only a handful of later updates remaining — the most time-saving choice for rebuilding 2016 environments.
Who Is This Version For?
- Enterprise IT staff — rebuild or migrate 2016-era servers (AD domain controllers, file services, Hyper-V clusters, container hosts); Updated media installs far faster than RTM
- Cloud and container engineers — the base for Windows containers and early Docker Swarm / Kubernetes Windows node labs and certifications
- Learners and certification students — the standard lab OS for MCSA 2016, S2D hyper-converged and Storage Replica disaster-recovery courses
- Legacy system maintainers — some industry software delivered in 2017–2018 is certified against Server 2016 with recent cumulative updates, which this media satisfies immediately
- OS collectors — genuine early-2018 Microsoft refreshed media (11636703), never repackaged
Which Editions Are on the Disc?
Setup selects the edition by product key. The media primarily contains:
| Edition | Best For |
|---|---|
| Standard (Core / Desktop Experience) | General-purpose servers and virtualization hosts (2 VMs per license) — the most common choice |
| Datacenter | High-density virtualization, unlimited VMs, Storage Spaces Direct, SDN, shielded VMs |
During setup you can also choose Server Core (no graphical interface) or the full Desktop Experience installation mode. Nano Server ships as a container image in this generation and is not a setup option.

Verified SHA-256 Hash
The following hash was generated locally using PowerShell Get-FileHash on the complete file — not copied from a website. This ensures every byte of your download is identical to the official media:
F08ED0AE744E5E886345B40254335B7B19FA25FEC4928499586F62DD1AB6C34DTo verify your download, open PowerShell in the folder containing the ISO and run:
Get-FileHash .\cn_windows_server_2016_updated_feb_2018_x64_dvd_11636703.iso -Algorithm SHA256If the output matches the hash above, your file is intact. If it doesn’t, delete the file and download again.

Before You Install
- Try it in a VM first: Windows Server 2016 reaches end of extended support in January 2027 — deploy in Hyper-V, VMware Workstation or VirtualBox and take a snapshot immediately. Any internet-facing service needs proper firewalling and patch management.
- Patch baseline: this disc integrates updates through February 2018 — after setup, apply later security updates via Windows Update / WSUS.
- Three similarly named 2016 discs: 9718765 is the 2016 RTM retail disc; 11636703 is the February 2018 refreshed disc (this one, retail/MSDN channel); 11636695 is the Volume License disc. Key channels are not interchangeable — check the number.
- Core or Desktop Experience?: production workloads should prefer Core (smaller attack surface, lower footprint) with remote administration tools; choose Desktop Experience for GUI learning or legacy applications.
- Licensing and keys: Standard and Datacenter require their own licenses — you can skip the key during setup and activate later; volume environments should use legitimate KMS/MAK.
- Always verify the hash: a nearly 6GB download can easily be corrupted — two minutes of verification avoids a failed install.
Why “Official Untouched” Matters
Third-party “lite,” “ghost server” or “pre-activated” builds may:
- Bundle adware, crypto miners or backdoors
- Preinstall dubious KMS emulators or “permanent activation” scripts that are themselves security risks
- Gut the WinSxS component store, causing “source files missing” errors when adding roles, installing .NET 3.5 or applying cumulative updates later
- Replace system files with no verifiable hash, making failures impossible to trace or reproduce
Servers carry business data and services — knowing the image is byte-for-byte identical to Microsoft’s official media matters far more than saving a few minutes. An official ISO plus a verifiable SHA-256 hash is the only reliable route.
